Abstract

This short paper gives an overview of three like-minded studies from an Institute of Technology in Ireland. Whether it be blended learning, mLearning or eLearning, the overall objective should be to keep the student at the centre of this learning always. If the use of technology in training and education can help achieve this then it should be utilised where possible. With the ubiquitous nature of the smartphone and its use for viewing video and gaming, it seems only logical to integrate the use of these devices into formal learning situations. Especially considering the smartphone is the first port of call for most people seeking information on any given topic. From the results of these three case studies not only will the use of digital technologies in training be developed and adopted in the future. They are the future.
