Abstract
India’s growing population is generating an increasing amount of waste, leading to the proliferation of landfills and unsightly garbage dumped across streets. This phenomenon has given rise to issues including health hazards, global warming, water and soil contamination, and environmental pollution. The root cause lies in a lack of awareness and education about proper waste management practices, leaving people oblivious to the consequences of their inefficient actions. To tackle this problem at its core, there is a pressing need to implement effective waste segregation measures. Proper waste segregation not only reduces the reliance on landfills but also mitigates health risks, contamination, and global warming. Additionally, it simplifies recycling processes, thereby minimising the need for landfill storage. Improved waste segregation also benefits garbage pickers, sparing them from exposure to hazardous materials. Introducing conversational UX and AI is crucial to making waste segregation a seamless and interactive experience for users. A smart AI bin with a voice bot was introduced, revolutionising waste segregation with unprecedented ease and efficiency. This smart bin offers features like query response, alerts, and real-time information. This paper explores how the integration of conversational tools and AI can transform waste management practices in India, opening avenues for future innovations in the field.
