    Abstract

This paper explores the complex world of silk saree weaving in Kancheepuram, looking at the social, cultural, and economic aspects that affect the lives of the artisans who practise this age-old profession. Kancheepuram is known for creating some of the world's most stunning silk sarees. This study aims to capture the spirit of the weaving community and their commitment to maintaining a centuries-old cultural practice by looking beyond the threads and looms. The story will be told through a series of powerful images and thought-provoking prose that tell the tales of specific weavers and their families. Beyond the final result, the emphasis is on demonstrating the skill, commitment, and familial ties that preserve this age-old art form. This research investigates the meeting point of tradition and modernity via the lens of the camera, illuminating how the weavers navigate the difficulties of a world that is changing quickly while preserving the rich heritage of Kancheepuram silk.
