Abstract

This paper attempts to develop a preliminary IoT (Internet of Things)-based real-time lake monitoring system (RTLMS) 'SuJAL' to monitor the fluctuating levels of pollution in the lakes of Bangalore. The RTLMS system comprises of sensors, NodeMCU, Google Firebase Cloud and web technologies. A sensor-based prototype was developed to measure the WQI (water quality index) of five different lakes in Bangalore. The parameters used to measure the degree of pollution was pH level, turbidity level, electrical conductivity (EC), dissolved oxygen (DO) and total dissolved solids (TDS). The results were then analysed to compare the water quality of these lakes.
