Abstract

Concentric and nonconcentric multiple double layers can appear in front of a positively biased electrode immersed into plasma as concentric luminous plasma shells and network of luminous plasma balls, respectively. In this paper, we present the first evidence of the simultaneous excitation of both types of multiple double layers in front of the same electrode. This comes to support the assertion that a common physical mechanism is at the origin of concentric and nonconcentric multiple double layer emergence and dynamics.
