Abstract

The importance of pedagogy in helping to shape the future of Education is discussed in this paper. We propose a new pedagogy to help us navigate the challenges posed by our modern society and our transition towards more sustainable educational models. The reviewed literature exposes the significant controversies associated with pedagogy and existing research studies and the difficulties faced when applying theoretical frameworks to the reality of the classroom. We argue the need to bridge the theoretical and practical gap by enabling teachers to explore and embrace theoretical concepts according to their reality and motivations. This paper is supported by a first case study that seeks to bring to life Circular Pedagogy through innovation and action. The research findings are encouraging as the case study identified the significance of integrating students as part of the learning and teaching process by nurturing the "student voice" in the context of a language class. Circular Pedagogy is a novel concept, and this paper provides insights on articulating some of its elements as we search for innovative ways to help us contribute to the existing debate on the need to transform our educational systems.
