Abstract

This book is the first manual for food scholars and literary scholars who wish to investigate food and drink in imaginative texts, i.e. practice the emerging critical paradigm of gastrocriticism, and it is uniquely useful in supporting scholars and interested readers by outlining the various functions that food, drink and foodways can have in narratives, providing hands-on guidance through reading questions, as well as leading towards seminal food scholarship
