Abstract

One of the aims of the 5G technology is to provide multiple services to large number of devices in a cellular system. Some of these devices are high-end Users Equipment (UEs) and can process the whole bandwidth allocated by the base station (gNB). However, there are UEs that are not able to support the large bandwidths. To provide service to all devices in the network, a new concept called bandwidth part (BWP) introduced in the 5G NR systems. With the active BWP, the gNB can allocate only a segment of the bandwidth to these devices. However, activating BWP, might change the center frequency from the UE point of view. This leads to phase rotation that leads to the UE not able to attach to the gNB. This paper first gives an overview of the proposed phase compensation technique in the 5G NR and then presents some simulation and experimental results to validate the functionality of the proposed technique.
