Abstract
This chapter presents the reflections of contemporary pioneers who provided distinctive and enduring national leadership on gender equality in Irish higher education. In their own words, these leaders recall the issues they considered and the challenges they faced as they advanced gender equality in Irish higher education. The chapter begins with an historical context. The chapter records of the perspectives of four women who played a pivotal leadership role in changing the landscape for gender equality in Irish higher education. It concludes with an overview of developments and progress in Irish higher education arising from the contributions of the four pioneers.
