    Abstract

    Over the last three decades, there has been an increased emphasis and drive for sustainability from firms both in the for-profit and nonprofit sectors across the globe. The transition to the sustainability-focused outlook for businesses was initially that of rejection; and more recently, moved to a more recently positive attitude, which considers sustainability as a key strategic organization goal (Sloan et al.2013). This is due to the realization that sustainability focus is not only good for the organizations and the earth, but it holds additional benefits including economic prosperity, protection of the environment, and social equity (Soyka2012).
