Abstract

Power devices such as power generators, loads, and storage systems vary widely in terms of their cost, performance, capacity, and reliability over time. With the growing requirement for cost-effective power generation and storage systems, the selection of these power devices for long-term cost savings and better performance are challenging tasks. In this paper, toward achieving the best selection of power generator sizes and storage capacities, we propose a Linear Programming based co-optimization of controllable generator sizes and storage capacities with the consideration of system condition which is necessary to keep operating under the fluctuations of renewable energy sources and user demands. The experimental results demonstrate how the cost-ratio between a generator and a storage affects the best combination of generator sizes and storage capacities.
