Abstract
An optimized design for the rectangular printed monopole antenna with a stilted groundplane is presented. A parametric study of antenna parameters, including the length and width of the ground plane, the length and width of the rectangular plate, and the gap between the patch and ground plane is presented. A slit in the ground plane is shown to reduce the lower-edge frequency and improve the bandwidth. A parametric study of the slit is given.
