Abstract

The “middle infrared” region covers the electromagnetic spectral range of from 2.5 to 25 µm. This range is of particular interest for many applications, especially for spectroscopy, since the electromagnetic frequencies involved coincide with the frequencies of the internal vibrational motion of most molecules (the “molecular fingerprint” region).
