Abstract

In this letter, we propose a novel protocol, inter-burst segregation protocol (IBSP), which guarantees zero packet loss in packet-switched networks. The protocol is implemented and evaluated in network simulator-3 and in the data plane development kit (DPDK) implemented by INTEL. The results confirm that a packet-switched network can achieve zero packet-loss using IBSP, although nearly all the bandwidth is consumed in the network. In addition, the jitter is significantly low and bounded using IBSP.
