Abstract

It is necessary to acknowledge human factors (HF) more systematically throughout the lifecycle. Human factors engineering is a significant part of the product and system design process, but now it is time to widen the scope from design phase to cover all situations during the whole lifecycle. This paper aims to describe how to integrate HF methods into the ManuVAR Product lifecycle model (PLM) and how to make HF methods more visible and usable throughout the entire lifecycle. By dividing methods and services into four groups: (1) manage requirements, (2) support design, (3) evaluate and get feedback and (4) support training and sharing of information it is possible to respond to the needs and requirements of ManuVAR goals, lifecycle, gaps, cluster cases, high value, high knowledge manual work and technology applications.
