Integrated Behaviour Action (IBA) Framework for Energy Conservation Awareness

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contributionpeer-review

    Abstract

This paper introduces the IBA Framework and proposes its adaptation to foster electricity consumption awareness patterns. Individuals often receive standardised information that may not effectively address local challenges, especially in energy consumption behaviours. Integrating Behavior and Action, the IBA Framework is applied to anticipate and influence electricity usage patterns, considering factors such as Individual Awareness, personal preferences, psychological factors, and societal norms. The framework’s effectiveness is supported by a mobile application designed to analyse and enhance electricity consumption awareness. This research emphasises the significance of Individual Awareness, societal norms, and psychological factors in shaping electricity consumption behaviours. This collaborative approach aims to bridge gaps in understanding and addressing the complexities of human behaviour and societal expectations regarding energy use. The multifaceted framework proposed can empower individuals to make informed decisions, develop justifiable interventions, and assess the long-term impacts of electricity consumption. It also allows for leveraging new technologies, including artificial intelligence, for a more efficient and expedited approach to promoting electricity consumption awareness patterns.
