Abstract

Innovative approaches to pest control strategies are at the forefront of transforming agricultural pest management by integrating innovative technologies to improve its efficiency and sustainability. These approaches combine advanced tools such as remote sensing, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), biosensors, and genome editing to enable early detection, real-time monitoring, and targeted pest intervention. Remote sensing techniques, including satellite imagery and hyperspectral analysis, provide critical insights into pest population dynamics and crop stress, whereas UAVs equipped with specialized sensors facilitate the precise application of control measures in identified hotspots. Biosensors and acoustic detection systems further enhance pest identification and reduce the reliance on traditional pesticide applications. Genome-editing technologies, particularly CRISPR–Cas systems, have introduced revolutionary solutions for pest and crop management. These tools allow precise genetic modifications, enabling pest population suppression, development of pest-resistant crops, and sex-ratio distortion strategies for long-term control. Nanotechnology offers innovative solutions using nanopesticides with controlled release and targeted specificity, minimizing environmental contamination and chemical residues. The integration of these cutting-edge technologies underpins a data-driven, environmentally responsible approach to pest management that addresses critical challenges such as food security and ecological balance. By leveraging interdisciplinary collaborations and regulatory advancements, precision pest control strategies promise to redefine agricultural practices, paving the way for a sustainable and resilient future for global food production.
