Abstract
The photoluminescence efficiency of a series of thin polymer films prepared under a variety of conditions was studied for the conjugated polymer poly (m-phenylenevinylene-co-2,5-dioctyloxy-p-phenylenevinylene). It was observed that degassing the polymer solution prior to spinning in an inert atmosphere and baking under vacuum dramatically improved photoluminescence efficiency. The initial PL intensity increased by over 70% for films prepared using specific processing techniques.
