Abstract
First recording Wanderlust by Greg Caffrey. Wanderlust was written between Nov 2014 - Feb 2015. It was written firstly to explore the new collective sonority of the three instruments employed, not often heard together. Secondly, I wrote the piece to investigate a thoroughly through-composed approach to composition, always pushing forward creating new lines and disregarding any temptation to develop ideas in the traditional way, hence the title 'Wanderlust'. The piece, therefore, feels to me spontaneous rather than composed, almost having more in common with a free jazz improvisation, though obviously without that vocabulary.
