Abstract

The authors lay out a conceptual approach for producing highly aggregated indicators from the large volume of data available on the environment. They first briefly survey past efforts to produce such indicators and report evidence that they can influence policy decisions. Illustrations are given for pollution/emissions, resource depletion, biodiversity, and human impact/exposure. -M.Amos
