Abstract
A review of electroluminescent processes in conjugated polymers and fullerenes is presented. The benefits of employing such materials for opto-electronic studies is highlighted. Conducting polymers combine the semiconductor-like optical and electronic properties with the ease of tailorability of organic systems. The results of recent research and the characteristic opto-electronic properties of the most often used materials, such as PPP or PPV, and the novel carbon based system, fullerene, are presented.
