Eimi: A Smartphone Application Fostering Ethical Travel and Economic Upliftment

This study aims to create a smartphone application that connects travelers to local communities promoting equitable distribution of income. Local communities struggle to gain access to tourists. In instances, where tourism is commercialised, it has the potential to undermine traditional practices. It threatens marine ecosystems, wildlife, air, water, and vegetation. A cluster of travelers take advantage of resources offered to them by local communities. They occasionally lack information related to the foreign region. For instance, international tourists, are less likely to locate local crafts. Tourism holds the potential to economically and psychologically empower these communities through their participation in its activities. To counter concerns in the industry, the application aims to establish a direct link that immerses a traveler into experiences with local communities while promoting ecotourism and ensures that the communities preserve their culture and get incentivised economically. This application would enable the users to get relevant information about traditional cultures in the locale through an immersive experience. This solution has the capability of benefiting communities by uplifting their economic status and travelers by providing them with necessary information regarding the region.
