Abstract

The techno-economic parameters that influence the commercial deployment of hybrid thermophotovoltaic (TPV) solar power generation are determined using annual system simulations. Data showed that TPV cell price of €5/cm2 or less together with a TPV operating temperature under 800°C is required for a hybrid solar-biomass TPV power plant to be economically competitive with the state-of-the-art hybrid solar-biomass Rankine cycle power plants.
