Abstract
A set of questions and responses that might be considered appropriate for a light emitting diode (LED) supplier are discussed. The questionnaire includes questions whether the LED luminaire is tested in accordance with 'IESNA LM-79-08, IES Approved Method for the Electrical and Photometric Measurement of Solid-State Lighting Products'. What is the driver power factor and is the driver replaceable is another one. The responses include that in recent years, the introduction of IESNA LM-79-08, IESNA LM-80- 08 and IESNA TM-21-11 have afforded the opportunity for lighting designers to have LED products they are considering, tested in accordance with standardized methodologies, by an independent laboratory. Luminaire lifetimes with good quality products for general lighting are typically L70F10 for 50,000 hours. A combination of percentage flicker and flicker index can be used to estimate the stroboscopic effect of a luminaire.
