Abstract

Novel design of triangular patch antenna for GPS (Global Positioning System) and CNSS (Compass Navigation Satellite System) applications is presented. The proposed printed compact antenna has total size of 40×30 mm2 and consists of triangular patch fed by microstrip line. Open end slits pattern in ground plane of the proposed antenna is used for dual band operation. The antenna covers two bands of GPS applications L1 (1.57 GHz) and L2 (1.245 GHz) along with CNSS. Impedance bandwidth of 80 MHz is achieved at L2 and 110 MHz at L1 band with reasonable gain. Measured return loss and simulated radiation patterns of the antenna in different planes are shown in this paper.
