Abstract
Keith has experienced a remarkable journey in education from completing an ECDL course in 2008 to being awarded a PhD from Maynooth University in 2022. In this video Keith discusses his PhD research ‘Experiencing Dyslexia Through the Prism of Difference’. Keith’s research explored dyslexia within third-level education and documented dyslexic students’ journeys of overcoming barriers to achieve academic success.
Keith’s research aimed to look at exploring dyslexia beyond ableism and will discuss his findings centring around identity and disclosure, the impact on the ‘self’ and the notion of academic imprisonment. This video will be of particular interest to adults with dyslexia and third-level staff.
