    Abstract

Worldwide, every year, approximately 1.3 million people die due to road accidents. In India, every year, approximately 1.5 lakh people are killed due to road traffic crashes, which translates into 1130 accidents and 422 deaths every day or 47 accidents and 18 deaths every hour. Governments worldwide have recognised the importance of road safety and created a global plan that calls upon a safe systems approach, i.e., reducing death and injuries by improving post-crash response during road accidents. Angel is a smartphone-based application that aids in detecting and automatically notifying first responders and family members. Based on the user’s profile and the GPS location of the accident, the emergency service arrives at the location—within the golden hour—with the right medication to assist the victim. Angel also attempts to visualise the accident which will help the medical professionals to treat the patient. This information needs to be obtained from the user and stored in a smartphone app. This will help create accident-free and sustainable transportation which intends to reduce the risk of deaths and minimise economic losses.
