Abstract
A Study (2015) is a Gall film by Peter Maybury, commissioned for the exhibition Book for Architects presented by gta Ausstellungen, at ETH, Zürich. Serving the campus library at ETH is a subterranean storage facility (HDB) containing c.1.6 million titles, alongside many samples of materials, maps, and models, relating to architectural and pedagogical practice. The film is thought of as a diagrammatic enactment of the way in which knowledge bases are accumulated and embody knowledge, how that knowledge is accessed, and how texts move in and out of favour.
