abstract = "Induction motors are crucial to various industrial manufacturing processes and domestic applications. Monitoring of motor parameters such as speed is critical for smart control, failure diagnosis and fault prognosis. A module developed using NodeMCU, relays and microcontroller 8051 forms the proposed centralised control system (CCS). This control system can monitor and maintain a network of induction motors in an extensive industrial setup. CCS operates using data-transfer between smartphones, monitoring centres, and motors via IoT (Internet-of-Things). Failure of the centrifugal switch is one reason for the faults occurring in the single-phase induction motors. The centrifugal switch is replaced by a TRIAC, which is triggered through the feedback from the speed sensor; thereby helping to detect and avoid faults. This setup can also provide a spark-free start for the connected machine leading to a safe operating environment. This proposal provides a practical framework for Industry 4.0 applications that employ single-phase induction motors, allowing for industrial-scale smart manufacturing.",
