Abstract

A back-to-back linearly polarized patch antenna with a single microstrip line feed is proposed for WLAN applications. The antenna consists of two identical rectangular patch elements on the front and rear sides of a common ground plane. One patch antenna can be switched on at a time using a single-pole double-throw PIN diode switching circuit, offering a switched pattern angle of 180° in the Z-axis.
