Project Details
Description
This research focuses on catering businesses that sell non-prepacked food to the public. The project aims to determine:
- Whether specific types of catering businesses, such as restaurants, takeaways, hotels, cafes, and mobile food units, are experiencing difficulties in providing allergen information
- How partnerships can support these businesses in meeting their legislative requirements under the relevant food information regulations
The goal is to protect the health of food hypersensitive customers, including those with food allergies, intolerances, or coeliac disease, ultimately safeguarding the businesses themselves.
A survey is being developed across the island of Ireland to investigate how the Catering and Hospitality sector manages and applies food allergen information for non-prepacked foods.
