Description
This post-doctoral project provided an updated and extended analysis based on a doctoral dissertation conducted within RTÉ during a significant period of national economic crisis and organizational turmoil. The focus was on how public service media responded editorially and institutionally to urgent challenges.
A diverse set of methodologies, supported by extensive institutional access, were employed. The resulting monograph:
- Examined daily news production and political mediation practices
- Explored professional journalistic norms and role perceptions
- Analyzed on-air representations of key crisis moments
- Investigated the roles of the public as audiences, participants, and stakeholders in Irish public service media
