Project Details
Description
To address society's sustainability challenges, a class of innovations known as "low-techs," or Low and Medium Technologies (LMT), has re-emerged. These technologies emphasize simplicity, ingenuity in design, and ease of replication by non-experts. They have been applicable in traditional industries such as agriculture and medicine and are also relevant in creating sustainable digital, urban, and architectural solutions.
The low-tech approach is typically absent from conventional engineering, business, or design education. However, some institutions have started integrating these concepts into optional courses. Expanding these offerings to a broader student base was seen as an opportunity to inspire initiatives in low-tech solutions, fostering both entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship.
The project focused on developing large-scale training activities to raise awareness among engineering, business, and design students. This effort aimed to support the low-tech entrepreneurial ecosystem in Europe and facilitate the adoption of LMT solutions to meet the needs of future organizations.
