Personal profile

Personal profile

I am just after joining the team in TU Dublin as a Senior Postdoctoral Researcher, under the ARISE project. My background is in materials science, with a strong focus on additive manufacturing, material characterisation, and optical materials.

I undertook my PhD studies in 2014 in Trinity College Dublin, under the supervision of Prof. John Donegan. My research focused on improving the thermal stability of plasmonic devices for usage in solid-state hard drive manufacture. After completing my PhD in 2018, I began a Research Fellowship in Trinity College Dublin, in collaboration with Prof. Rocco Lupoi. My work focused on the development of novel technologies for metal additive manufacturing, which led to the successful manufacture of a working prototype 3D-printer.

Throughout my career, I have developed a versatile toolbelt of analytical techniques, ranging from microscopy (optical, SEM, TEM, AFM), spectroscopy (UV-vis, EDX), and crystallography (XRD, EBSD). Additionally, I am highly experienced with metallographic sample preparation and the use of different varieties of 3D-printer (FDM, SLM).
