Uma has extensively worked in the food science, nutrition and environmental health disciplinaries and especially involved in areas of product development and mathematical modelling related to chemical safety, nutritional/ risk analysis and developing human exposure assessment focusing on nutritional and health aspects. She has also worked in farm-to – fork related projects such as the Irish Phytochemical Food Network project and EU FP7 projects and published extensively in multidisciplinary area. Over last few years, she has been working with different projects related to alternative proteins, plant-based food and sustainability related projects. She has published several peer reviewed papers, book chapters and edited a book and is an associated editor for the journal of “Food Science and Nutrition”, “Frontiers in Nutrition and Sustainable Diets”. She is also a member of the EUT+ for the development of new masters programe in the field of Food Science and Technology.
