Research Interests
Dr Sharon Feeney C.Dir, Ed.D, MSc (Work & Org. Psych.), BSc (Psych.), is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Business in Technological University Dublin with over 35 years’ experience in the Irish higher education sector. She is a Chartered Director, and is a Board member (non-executive) of Quality Qualifications Ireland [QQI] (2023-2027) and the Education Research Centre [ERC] (2021-2026). She is currently Vice Chair of the ERC and she is an active member of their Audit and Risk Committee. She is a former Board member of the Higher Education Authority [HEA] (2016 – 2023) and is a former Vice Chair of the HEA Board (2016-2020). In addition, she is a former Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee in HEA (2016-2023).
Sharon’s doctoral research focussed on Institutional level quality reviews in higher education institutions on the island of Ireland, and she has published numerous book chapters and journal articles on the area of Higher Education Policy, Public Accountability and Governance, Student Experience in Higher Education, International Standards and Quality Assurance Systems for Higher Education, Teaching and Learning, Higher Education Organisation Design, Culture and Structures.
Sharon was awarded a Fulbright Research Scholarship to East Tennessee State University in 2023 to research academic career pathways and university engagement activities in Johnson City and the wider Tri-Cities area (incorporating Johnson City, Kingsport, and Bristol).
