Research Interests

Dr Ralf Burbach is the Assistant Head of School and Head of the Hospitality Management Discipline in the School of Hospitality Management and Tourism at the Technological University Dublin. Previously he occupied the position of Campus Coordinator at Wexford Campus, Institute of Technology Carlow. Dr Burbach has lectured in a number of Higher Education Institutions in the Republic of Ireland. Prior to his academic career, Dr Burbach worked for thirteen years in the hospitality industry and held managerial posts in Germany, the United Kingdom and Ireland. His research interests include digital and electronic HRM, Global Talent Management, International and Comparative Human Resource Management, HR Metrics, International Hospitality Operations, and Vocational and Dual Education Systems. Dr Burbach is the Director of Networking at the International Council on Hospitality Restaurant and Institutional Education (ICHRIE), the Immediate Past President at European CHRIE. He is a chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and a member of the Irish Hospitality Institute. In addition, Dr Burbach serves on the Hospitality Careers Oversight Group for Ireland, an advisory body overseeing the development of human capital in hospitality and tourism.
