Dr. Basu did his master’s in science (M.Sc.) in Zoology from Presidency College (affiliated to University of Calcutta, India) from 2010-2012. Prior to his doctoral study, he was working as a 'Research Assistant' (2012-2016) under the careful supervision from Assoc. Prof. Sajal Bhattacharya (Department of Zoology, Asutosh College, University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India) . Dr. Basu completed his doctoral study (Ph.D.) from Faculty of Technology, Univerzita Tomáše Bati ve Zlíně, Czech Republic (2016-2020) in 'Chemistry and Material Technology'. His doctoral thesis topic was on 'Study on Calcium Reinforced Polymeric Hydrogel Scaffolds for Bone Tissue Regeneration' (Thesis Summary ISBN: 978-80-7454-952-6). His Ph.D. has been technically guided by Assoc. Prof. Nabanita Saha under the principal supervision from prof. Ing. Petr Sáha. Thereafter, he has worked (2020-2021) at the Center of Polymer System (CPS), Univerzita Tomáše Bati ve Zlíně, Czech Republic as a 'Junior Researcher', in the research team of prof. Ing. Petr Sáha. There he was working on development and characterization of bacterial cellulose hydrogel-based biomaterial. He worked (2021-2022) in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology in the research team of Assoc. Prof. Merima Hasani. There his responsibility as a 'Wallenberg Wood Science Centre Postdoc fellow' was to research and explore the dissolution mechanism and kinetics of wood cellulose fibers for biorefinery and other biomedical applications. Thereafter, Dr. Basu has been awarded the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Individual Fellowship (MultiphaseGTR, Grant agreement ID: 101108847) at Department of Biomaterials, Institute of Clinical Dentistry under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Hanna Tiainen. His current Medtrain+ Marie Skłodowska-Curie postdoctoral fellowship project focuses development of a biphasic mineralized collagen-elastin tubular scaffolds for vascular grafts under the supervision of Dr. Claire Brougham (TU Dublin) and co-supervision of Prof. Fergal O’Brien (RCSI).
