Personal profile

Research Interests

In addition to my teaching, my current research is focussed on the development of a clinical assay for monitoring drug therapy. I currently am a principal investigator of a research team based in the Biomedical Diagnostics Institute in DCU in a clinical biochemistry diagnostic project in the development and incorporation of the biochemical assay for monitoring of anti-platelet drug therapy into a point-of-care device. The translation of this device into the clinical research centre in Beaumont Hospital is testament to the outstanding success of this project and has given me first-hand experience of clinical biochemistry in a diagnostic setting.Through my research I have developed collaborations both nationally with RCSI and DCU and internationally with the University of Southampton and AINIA in Spain resulting in peer-reviewed publications.
