Professor Luke Clancy, BSc, MB, MD, FRCPI, FRCP (Edin), FRCP, FFOM, FFPHM, PhD. Director General, TobaccoFree Research Institute Ireland (TFRI) Dublin. Adjunct Professor TUDublin Previous appointments included Clinical Director CResT Directorate, St James’s Hospital, Medical Director, Peamount Chest Hospital, and Professor Respiratory Medicine, Dublin University (TCD). His research is in the area of smoking and health and prevention of respiratory diseases mainly due to air pollution, asthma, cancer and tuberculosis. He has directed and co-ordinated respiratory research projects and led TFRI in policy-driven research (including the evaluation of ‘Smokefree Ireland’) nationally and internationally with some 300 peer-reviewed publications and numerous published reports, books and chapters in books on air pollution and tobacco control and Tuberculosis. Starting with reporting the increased mortality associated with the Dublin smog, which led to the ban on burning of bituminous coal and later as Chairman of ASH Ireland he led the Health Alliance which played a significant role in achieving the successful Smokefree legislation in Ireland in 2004, He is currently PI of the ESPAD Ireland, 2 Horizon 2020 projects and TOB_G. publications are available at https://www.tri.ie/publications.html and Orcid: https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2407-2263
