Professional Information

Prof. Curtin is Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment in TU Dublin. Previous roles include Head of School of Food Science and Environmental Health (2011-2022) and Lecturer in the School of Biological Sciences (2008 to 2011). Prior to joining TU Dublin (DIT at the time), Prof Curtin graduated with a B.Sc in Biochemistry (1999) and PhD in Biochemistry (2003) and worked as a postdoctoral researcher on the design and development of an immunotherapy for the treatment of Glioblastoma Multiforme (brain cancer) (2003-2008) in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, US. 

Prof Curtin works on the development of activatable therapeutics. His research group develops and employs technological approaches such as ultrasound, cold plasma and nanomaterials to enhance the delivery, uptake and activity of anti-cancer therapeutics.
