Professional Information

Fintan Moran has lectured at Technological University Dublin and DIT for many years and has served as a member of Academic Council on a number of occasions. He devised and set up the M.Sc. Programme in Food Safety Management in 2001, based upon the recommendations of the EU White Paper in Food Safety, The course was the first in Ireland and one of the first in the world to specifically address food safety from an integrated techno-professional approach. In 2014 he added an international programme recruiting students from over 24 countries globally. He has been a consultant on international food safety projects for the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (funded by the UNFAO), the University of Hue in Vietnam (funded by Irish Aid) and the Abu Dhabi Food Control Agency. Incorporating sustainability, the UN SDSs and Data Analytics into the MSc programmes is a key element of the Programmatic review to prepare graduates for the challenges of the next 20 years. He was founding Chairperson of Plant Technology Ltd which was based upon post graduate research in UCD and grew the company to become one of the largest plant biotech companies in Europe. From 1989 to 2004 he chaired the board of directors.
