Professional Information

Elizabeth Hunter received a BA in Mathematics and Economics at Boston University in 2011. She worked as a health economics researcher at Research Triangle Institute for three years where she worked on a team that developed the risk adjustment models for the US health insurance exchanges. She attended the University of Limerick and received an MSc in Mathematical Modelling in 2015. She completed a PhD at Technological University Dublin. Her PhD research focuses on agent-based simulations for infectious disease epidemiology with the goal of creating an agent-based simulation of Ireland. Elizabeth worked on the Precise4Q projectg as a post-doctoral researcher working on predictive modelling in stroke creating a set of age specific primary stroke risk prediction models.  During the COVID-19 pandemic, she worked as the lead agent-based modeler on the Irish Epidemiological Modelling Advisory Group (IEMAG), a group that provided statistical and modelling support to the Irish government.  Currently she is continuting her work in both the fields of predictive modelling for stroke and infectious disease modelling. She is the PI of the Horizon Europe funded project Stratif-AI, a project that aims to achieve continuous stratification of stroke patient risks by integrating all data available for a patient into a continuously evolving digital twin that combines mechanistic and machine learning models, she also works on the RESQ+ and Validate Horizon Europe projects. Elizabeth also works part time with the Health Protection and Surviellence Centre (HPSC) working to help increase the modelling capacity of the HPSC and helping to respond to infectious diseae outbreaks as they occur.
