Professional Information
Dr. Róisín Murphy is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment at Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin), where she specialises in construction economics (including labour market analysis), strategic management, and sustainable development. She holds a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh Business School, with her doctoral research focusing on strategic planning in Irish quantity surveying practices. Her academic background also includes an MSc in Strategic Focus, an MBS in Management and Organisational Studies, and a BA (Hons) in Economics and History from University College Dublin.
With over two decades of experience in higher education and industry engagement, Dr. Murphy has made significant contributions to teaching, research, and leadership.
Dr. Murphy’s research interests center on strategic management in professional service firms, sustainability in the built environment, and labour market analysis across the built environment. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals such as Construction Management and Economics and Engineering, Construction and Architectural Management; leading peer review conferences including ARCOM, BAM and Strategic Management Society, and has authored numerous industry reports commissioned by bodies including the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform (DPER), the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland (SCSI), Property Services Regulatory Authority (PSRA) and the Construction Industry Federation.
An active contributor to the academic and professional community, Dr. Murphy serves on editorial boards, scientific committees, and acts as an external examiner for international programs. Additionally she is an invited Judge for prominant industry awards.
