Dr. Emma O’Brien is an entrepreneurial educator and researcher in the School of Tourism & Hospitality Management, TU Dublin, with a passion for inclusive entrepreneurship. Her teaching blends innovative pedagogies, community collaboration, and practice based approaches that empower learners through experiential learning and authentic assessment. Emma has led several EU-funded research projects, published in international journals, and received awards for community engagement and entrepreneurship education.
Prior to joining TU Dublin, Emma was the entrepreneurial and education manager of a large-scale industry/academic research institute at Dublin City University (DCU). Emma hold's a PhD in Entrepreneurship, an MBA, and degrees in Science Communication and Analytical Science.
Research Interests
Emma's research portfolio is defined by its originality, societal relevance, and impact. As a leading scholar in the field of inclusive entrepreneurship, she has made significant contributions that advance academic theory, inform policy development, and shape practice. Emma adopt's transdisciplinary research approaches that connect academic disciplines with non-academic knowledge and stakeholder collaboration, aiming to address real-world challenges and promote social inclusion
