Professional Information

Dr. Dervilla Niall is a full-time Lecturer in the School of Transport and Civil Engineering in Technological University (TU) Dublin and Programme Chair for the level 8, TU824 Structural Engineering programme. Dr. Niall is also a Chartered member of the Institution of Structural Engineers and gained 16 years of extensive industry experience prior to commencing her academic role in 2010. Her research interests  focus on sustainability in the built environment including phase change materials and concrete in the context of  retrofit and energy efficiency. As Programme Chair, Dr. Niall also leads curriculum design and pedagogical innovation and is involved in impactful research projects in Engineering Education. Dr. Niall’s recognition within the engineering community is reflected in  her contributions to many industry committees and advisory boards, including the Irish Concrete Society, the Institute of Structural Engineers and  the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI).
