Research Interests

Optical devices and sensors; optical materials; therapeutic ultrasound; medical devices; dosimetry

Dr. Dervil Cody's primary research interests are in the development of optical and holographic sensors, which can aid in the quality assurance, calibration, and dosimetry of diagnostic and therapeutic medical devices. Current active projects include development of optical dosimetry devices for photodynamic therapy, and high intensity focused ultrasound.

Dr. Cody is a Principal Investigator in the Centre for Industrial and Engineering Optics at TU Dublin, and a Funded Investigator with CÚRAM, the National Centre for Medical Devices under the MedDevDoc MSCA programme. She has won funding for capital research equipment from the HEA, and is establishing a focused ultrasound research laboratory at TU Dublin.

 

Professional Information

Dr. Cody is an Professional Member of the Irish Association of Physicists in Medicine (IAPM).  She is also an Affiliated Member of the UCD Centre for Physics in Health and Medicine.

Teaching

Dervil is a lecturer in the School of Physics, Clinical and Optometric Sciences, and lectures primarily in the subject areas of Diagnostic Imaging, Medical Measurement and Devices.
