David is currently Head of Discipline of Global Business within the Faculty of Business in TU Dublin. David is responsible for various programme spanning all 3 campuses of TU Dublin including International Business (TU915,TU916) and International Business and Languages (TU965). Originally, David joined TU Dublin as a lecturer on the BA Sports Management and Coaching on the Blanchardstown Campus. David has always been passionate about teaching and learning and qualified as Physical Education and Biology teacher from DCU. David was awarded funding to conduct his Masters (Research) into motor skill development before securing a Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship to complete his PhD which investigated the influence of obesity on coordination of movement. David’s current research interests lie in the area of physical activity, play and skill acquisition. David currently supervises 7 postgraduate students (6 PhD and 1 MPhil) in these areas.
David’s teaching and learning philosophy is centered on engaging pedagogy and gamification of learning. David believes that by creating a friendly, fun and challenging environment students fulfill their potential as learners. He has previously worked on the STLR, IMPACT and Transform EDU Projects.
