This involved substantial site visits in Europe to destinations exploring 1995-2001 Evaluator for the National Tourism Board (Failte Ireland) for EU Operational Programme Funded projects (ERDF) 1990-2005 Regional Tidy Towns Judge ( The largest environmental competition in Ireland www.tidytowns.ie ) WORK EXPERIENCE Tourism Officer |Midlands East Tourism (Failte Ireland –East Coast and Midlands/Dublin Doorstep) February 1990 – October 1995 Roles included facilitating product development, all aspects of marketing including brochure development, organizing familiarizations, attendance at trade fairs and liaison with the industry. I was also involved in inspection of accommodation and was a Tidy Towns Judge. As part of the organist ion I helped to develop and implement tourism strategy focusing both on development within the industry and all aspects of marketing. WORK EXPERIENCE Botanical Research Assistant National Botanic Gardens, Glasnevin, Dublin 9. August 1983-February 1990 I principally worked for Dr. Charles Nelson, Taxonomist. My work consisted of undertaking research work for him including work on the McNab Herbarium, Augustine Henry, a book on drift seeds and the Index Seminum, which was distributed to several hundred botanic gardens around the world. Secretary of the Irish Garden Plant Society EU FUNDED WORK INTERREG FUNDED Gorman, C. (2005-2006) Lead Researcher, with Dr. Louise Emmanuel, and Nia Siggins, Trinity College, University of Wales, Carmarthen, Wales ParNetourism the Exploration of Partnerships and Networks in South East Ireland and South West Wales. This primarily focused on rural and community providers. INDUSTRY WORK Gorman, C. (2007) with Tourism Research Centre, DIT (Jane Stacey, Dr. Kevin Griffin) Monastic Trails.
