Health, Engineering and Materials Science Research Hub Lead: December 2023 to Present.
Responsible for the management and growth of the HEMS Research Hub, which includes the CREST, MiCRA and WISAR Technology Gateways, funded by Enterprise Ireland.
CREST Centre Manager: Mar 2013 - Nov 2023.
CREST research involved developing advanced functional coatings with antibacterial and anticorrosion properties for application in the healthcare, automotive and aerospace sectors.
My role involved:
• Operating under the CREST ISO 9001 Quality Management System
• Securing and delivering national and international projects in the area of surface treatments and coatings.
• Developing links and projects with industrial companies and academic research centres with the aid of the PRTLI, SFI, IDA, EI and the EU Framework Program.
• Providing consultancy services to Irish industrial clients in the area of Spectroscopy (FTIR, AAS, NMR), Chromatography (GCMS), Thermal Analysis (DSC, TGA), Accelerated Exposure (NSS).
• Patenting and licensing technology to indigenous OEMs.
• Supervising postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers.
